Las Vegas, Nevada - Summer 1992
We flew from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Las Vegas.  During the flight we flew over the Grand Canyon.  It looks kind of small, but since I have never been there as I'm writing this in 2006, I don't know how it would be to see it up close.  I am sure it is very nice.

The travel industry there is very sophisticated and transfer from the airport to your hotel are typically included in the hotel accommodations that you book.  Being one of the first trips I took as a person in my early 20's I was a little nervous about that, but it worked out with no problem.

We stayed in the Excalibur, which in 1992 was the newest hotel on Las Vegas Blvd.

We didn't gamble much, but 2 experiences come to mind.  The first was when I was playing nickel slot machines.  I won $30 in nickels.  I shared them with Andrea and by the time they were all gone, I was more than tired of pulling the lever.  The other was when I put a $1 coin in the machine, I lost, but had I put 3 x $1 tokens I would have won $75. Bummer.

We spent most of our time at the pool.  The weather was sunny and warm.  In the evenings we walked up and down the boulevard and collected $1 tokens from all the Casinos.  At least it was a reason to go inside of them all.  I can tell you that getting into a casino is no problem, but getting out is a challenge.

During our adventures up and down Las Vegas Boulevard we walked by the filming of Indecent Proposal starring Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson.  Woody and I made eye contact, he looked at me funny, I remember, but I don't know why.

We must return to Las Vegas because I know it has changed so much in the many years since we have visited.  The things I will do next time is to go 'downtown' and to play 21, maybe Texas hold'em too.
