About 3 years ago, I did some research into the different metal genres
and quickly realized that I am a fan of
groove
metal. Bands like Lamb of God, Machine Head, Chimaira, Soulfly,
Sepultura and the founders of the genre, Pantera. This research lead me to
discover specifically Lamb of God, who I saw at
Rock Am Ring 2007 and saw them again during their Wrath Tour of 2009
here in Munich. Having learned from the AC/DC concert that I shouldn't get
there too early, I only showed up only 1 hour before they opened the doors.
:) The opening band was
Misery Speaks, they were not bad. Their music had some good grooves and
their performance was tight. It was a small venue and it was very loud. My
ears are still ringing 24 hours later. I think really smaller venues are
more enjoyable for the fans because you can get close to the performers, but
for the performers, I am sure they enjoy the festivals and stadiums. Just
when Lamb of God started I tried to get to the front row. I couldn't do it
this time, the guys in front simply would not budge, the security guard told
me to stop trying so I stopped fighting and started getting into the music
from that point on. I rocked for 2 songs until they played 'Walk in Hell
with Me' which pulled me like a magnet into the mosh pit. The last time I
was in a Lamb of God mosh pit it was very aggressive and the participants
were swinging too much to enjoy it, this time it was really fun. There was
no 'Wall of Death' at this performance, because they did not play 'Black
Label'. Too bad. The moshing was fun, fell down a few times, got hit a few
times, fell down a few more times, by the end I was covered in sweat,
exhausted and bruised...no blood though. They played for about an hour and
fifteen minutes, it was really kind of short but it was a really fun time. |
